KIS invests to stay ahead of the competition

Growing North East letting agent, KIS Lettings, has invested £25,000 in new technology to become the first in the region to give clients instant access to their property accounts.

The introduction of the new online portal means that landlords using KIS can see their managed rental property accounts at any time and from anywhere in the world.

The South Shields-based property management and letting agency, which also has branches in Sunderland and North Shields, developed the software as part of the company’s expansion programme to improve client services.

Ajay Jagota, managing director at KIS Lettings, explained why he feels the investment was a necessary and beneficial move for the business.

He said: “We’ve invested in this new system so that we can provide a transparency that most other lettings agents are not yet able to offer. It places us ahead of our competitors as our landlords can very quickly and easily find out everything they need to know about their let properties.

“We keep the information updated every day so landlords can see when any vacant properties have viewings, viewing feedback and can check that rents have been paid.

“It’s also a huge benefit to us as we are embarking on an expansion programme and the landlord login facility means that we can work much smarter, cutting paperwork and reducing time spent updating clients over the phone.”

With the new system landlords can access current financial transactions as well as historical figures. They can also view and check on Energy Performance Certificate and CP12 gas safety certificates, where they can request KIS to carry out renewals at the click of a button.

Contracts for each property are also uploaded and all paperwork, including accounts history, can be downloaded as a PDF document.

The simple yet innovative system can be accessed on tablets and smart phones as well as traditional web browsers.

It has already proven popular with many of the 300 landlords that opt for KIS to manage their lettings.

KIS plans to roll out a further nine branches across the North East following the launch of a second South Shields office in November 2011. The lettings agency provides a full management service, including online access for all landlords, for a five percent fee.
