Asian Business Connexions: Ahmed Khan, McDonalds
In next installment of our articles leading up to next week’s Asian Business Connexions evening. We meet Ahmed Khan of McDonalds Newcastle & Gateshead.
How did you become involved with Asian Business Connexions?
I became involved with ABC when I first moved up to Newcastle and took on my McDonalds Franchise and was looking for local organisations that could help with the setting up of my business.
What has Asian Business Connexions membership/involvement brought to your business?
It has provided valuable support in all aspect of the business from finance to HR & Training and
marketing.
What does the Asian Business Connexions mission; ’ Connect, Support and Promote’, mean to
you?
As an inclusive organisation I understand that the mission statement of ABC is to help all businesses big or small to become successful. What do you think is the biggest challenge facing business in the next 12 months? The required support from government to help business start up and grow.
How do you think ABC, and other networks, can aid business during the next year?
Support is key as not many businesses can go it alone and ABC can be looked upon as a One Stop Shop
for setting up and running a successful business.
What plans do you have for your business in the next 12 months?
I am planning to recruit around 150 people this year, put through 75 apprentices and invest 600k to refurbish one of my restaurants using local contractors.
What is set to be the biggest challenge and the biggest opportunity this year?
Dealing and managing a retail business in the current economic environment. Companies that manage this
well will reap the rewards.
