RFM Group Helps Local Businesses Reach Green Goals
Leading facilities management company, RFM Group is encouraging Yorkshire businesses to fly the flag for sustainability by offering 100 free ‘Green MOT’s’ including guidance on how to save energy and money.
The launch of the ‘Green MOT’ is in response to a survey which canvassed the attitudes to sustainable practices in the workplace of 317 Yorkshire businesses. The results highlighted that an overwhelming 76 per cent are ‘keen to be green’, but almost half of respondents (48 per cent) confessed to feeling in the dark when it comes to the practicalities.
Almost three quarters of those polled (73 per cent) admitted they felt that more could be done to improve the green credentials of their workplace with most citing that a lack of knowledge and understanding has prevented them from doing so.
Unsurprisingly, the majority (97 per cent) highlighted that they recycled in the workplace but only a mere 1 in 5 (21.6 percent) processed anything more than paper. Only 6.3 per cent cited renewable energy sources such as solar panels and air source heat pumps as a sustainable practice, centralized binning is undertaken by 17.9 per cent and low energy lighting adopted by a fifth (20 per cent).
Commenting on the findings, RFM Group MD Ian Flanagan said “It soon became clear after seeing the survey results that businesses in the region were crying out for advice and support on how to be more environmentally friendly. What people often forget is that taking small steps will not only save the environment but will also save a significant amount on your bottom line. Offering a ‘Green MOT’ is the perfect way to make our expertise accessible to local businesses and in just an hour we will be able to advise on different ways to cut their carbon, whittle down their waste and energy save on equipment.”
