£5m hotel development to create local jobs

A new £5 million hotel is set to open in Newcastle, creating around 20 jobs for the city.

Roomzzz Aparthotel are in the process of restoring Friar House in the city centre, creating 44 luxury apartments and suites.

The sites is the fifth in the Roomzzz Aparthotel portfolio, adding to sites in Manchester and Leeds.

Commenting on the announcement, Mark Walton, head of Roomzz Aparthotel UK said: “We are bringing an influx of new jobs to the City and are looking forward to Roomzzz Newcastle CITY sharing Newcastle’s famed warmth and hospitality through the Aparthotel and our choice of team to all of our guests.

“Newcastle City is a chic stay-away from home which gives suggestions and aspirations to a luxurious lifestyle that sometimes may seem beyond our day to day reach - we match luxe and Apple technology with affordability and practicality, the combination of which promises to strengthen the marketplace in terms of luxury stays in Newcastle.”

The restoration of the Georgian Friar House is now underway, and all planning, design, restoration and construction work has been tendered to local companies in two phases.

Mark continued: ‘The planning, design and build surrounding an historic building such as Friar House has demanded we work closely with Newcastle council as well as with sympathy for the building and area as well as extreme care and expertise. We are delighted with the progress that has been made on site so far and the team are ahead of schedule for completion’.

He now hopes that the hotel will strengthen the marketplace in terms of luxury stays in the Newcastle area.
