Home-working research

The advantages for both business owners and employees of home-working can be many including lower overheads and greater convenience and it is no surprise that a great many new and developing businesses are opting to run their businesses from home; indeed the UK has an estimated 4 million people opting do just this.

Indeed many of the businesses coming through the BIC’s Start-Up service are opting to work from home. However the advancements in technology that allow our clients to do this are not without a downside with many customers mentioning that whilst they appreciate the freedom they miss the day to day contact with others.

The BIC is a not for profit enterprise agency and as such we are dedicated to helping businesses and ultimately the regional economy grow, and it is for this reason we recently began researching the potential benefits of establishing a co-working space in the region.

Our first step was to contact other agencies to find out if they have had similar feedback and via the regional Growth Accelerator Incubation Network (GAIN) we have been examining the needs of home-working businesses across the region but if we are to do more we need to hear more from other home-workers and I would therefore urge anyone working from home to take part in our Home-working survey so that we may be able to tailor our services accordingly.

I look forward to hearing from you.

All who take part in the survey, and leave contact details, will be entered into a draw for a 18 hole x four ball golf session compliments of the North East BIC.
