Free Mini-Sales Course with Belief

I am changing a couple things over the next few weeks in this column. The first is that my weekly sales tip is going to focus on you the salesperson and how what you think can impact or improve your performance. The objective is to give you a shot of motivation so that you approach the day ahead with renewed confidence.

The second is that I will send direct to your inbox starting on the 6thof June a free mini sales course. This mini sales course will be over 10 days and will highlight “10 Free Sales and Marketing Activities to Increase Your Sales“. To get this you will have to register your name and email address – details at the bottom of this page.

So to this week’s thought and this is something that came up in a training course I delivered last week and it is belief or lack of belief.

It was agreed around the room that you needed belief in your products, company and you in order to sell successfully. The sad thing is that an amazing amount of people suffer from a lack of belief in their own abilities and skills. It can start at any time even during a customer meeting and can be triggered off by something the client says or in fact anything.

We start to lose our belief that we can do this job and then our thoughts kick in to confirm that we aren’t up to the job. This can eat away at us and undermine our confidence which can result in us not doing our job properly. In some cases we might avoid asking for the order so as to remove the possibility of the customer saying no. If you start believing you can’t do it or you don’t have the right product guess what will happen? Yes you won’t be able to do the job and you don’t have the right product.

So the next time you start to doubt yourself remind yourself of your past successes. How you managed to get an order after the client initially said “No”. How you cold called the MD of one of your top targets and managed to get a meeting to see them. How you made a brilliant presentation to a prospect that ended up as a significant sale for you and your company.

These reminders will confirm to you that you can do the job and do work for the right company with the best products. As Mark Victor Hansen quoted

“Your belief determines your action and your action determines your results, but first you have to believe“
