Birketts LLP launch Motor Industry Group

Law firm Birketts LLP brings together a specialist team to form a new Motor Industry Group.

Birketts, who have a long history of advising automotive industry clients are looking to expand the law firm so that it becomes a driving force within such a large section of the UK economy.

The group of specialist lawyers have an extensive knowledge of the specific issues which regularly face those operating within the motoring sector.

Birketts LLP, which has offices in Ipswich, Norwich, Cambridge and Chelmsford has 54 partners and 390 employees.

The firm’s Motor Industry Group will be headed by consultant Richard Wollaston who has more over 30 years’ experience of working with vehicle retailers, manufacturers and other businesses in the automotive supply chain.

Richard said: “For many retailers these are still difficult times with demand down and tight margins on sales of new vehicles. However, figures released by the society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders in the last two weeks have revealed that car production in the country has risen to its highest May output since 2004 and it also reported a jump in car sales in May.”

He continued: “In the meantime those operating in the retail motor sector are concentrating on broadening means of raising revenue including second hand cars, selling finance deals or parts dealing.”

Birketts held two motor industry dinners in Colchester and Newmarket to launch the new division. Key speakers at the events were optimistic about the future of the motoring industry and the fact that the UK currently has a positive balance of payments on car export over import.
