Work Placements for Italian Students Wanted!
Could you use an extra pair of hands over the next month? If so, perhaps you’d be interested in the following appeal by the Northumbria School of English in Whitley Bay.
Last year Italian school, Liceo Poerio, sent a group of students to Whitley Bay and many local companies helped out by providing a 4-week work experience placement.
This year they wish to send another group to the town, but confirmation of EU funding for the visit was just announced on Friday and a group of 20 students wants to come on 8th July!! It’s certainly a challenge but to meet it, the generosity of local business is needed.
If local companies can help rise to the challenge, the visitors will bring in up to £100,000 to the town - much of which will go to local visitor attractions, shops, coach hire firms, film companies etc, as there’s an extensive social programme in place for the students. It’ll also keep up to 6 people in full-time jobs in the Northumbria English School over the Summer, as well as a couple of part-timers.
The students will be 16 - 17 years old and will be fully insured for their work placement. and will receive an induction by the school which will include general Health & Safety training. They will be prepared to do anything to help, even if it’s just general tidying up.
If you can help, please contact Christine Goodwin at the Northumbria School of English on 0191 2525265 or email english.school@btconnect.com. Thank you.
