Businesses wasting thousands on Facebook adverts
Businesses are wasting vast amounts of money on adverts to gain ‘likes’ from Facebook members who have little interest in their products or services.
Likes are highly valued by the marketing departments of leading brands. Facebook makes money by charging businesses a fee to show adverts designed to attract new ‘likes’.
However, a BBC investigation has found that many users who click on the links have lied about their personal details.
Earlier this year Facebook revealed that almost 6% of its 901 million users might be fake, equating to more than 54 million users worldwide.
Likes are highly valued by the marketing departments of many leading businesses, as once the user clcks on the link, the business can post comment on their news feeds and alert their friends to the connection.
