Newcastle Business School, Northumbria University Graduation 2012

Watched by family and friends, over 1000 Newcastle Business School students celebrated their academic success and were presented with their awards at Northumbria University’s Sport Central yesterday. The ceremony was followed by a drinks reception at Northumbria’s Students’ Union which provided a great opportunity to continue the celebrations.

There were several prize winners acknowledged at a separate prize giving ceremony that took place at a breakfast event held at Newcastle Business School’s City Campus East. This event also celebrated the achievements of those students who accomplished 70% in each of their modules and were recognised in Newcastle Business School’s first ever Dean’s List.

Undergraduate prize winners included:

Sarah Brown – The Chartered Institute of Taxation prize for the Best Student in Taxation
Sarah Yeung – The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) for the Best First Year Results & The Tyne and Wear Society of Chartered Accountants Prize for Best Second Year Student in Financial Management
Bladine Ndjanga - Northern Society of Chartered Accountants Prize for the Graduating Student with the Best First Year Results
Nathan Hogg – The Worshipful Company of International Bankers Prize
Helen Orgis – BA (Hons) Business Administration for Best Student
Louise Rideout – The Sunvil Holidays Prize for the Most Improved BA (Hons)Travel and Tourism Management Student
Michael Morley – The Avril Dawn Hardy Memorial Award for the Best Dissertation
Faye Westwood – The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport prize for Best Student
Beth Robinson – The Chartered Institute of Marketing Award for the Best BA (Hons) Marketing Management Student
Ashleigh Blackburn – Perfect Weddings Abroad Best Overall BA (Hons) Travel and Tourism Management Student
Stephen Ian Harrison – Lloyds TSB Best Student Award from Business Creation

Newcastle Business School’s Dean’s List award winners included:

Special recognition was also given to the first Procter and Gamble cohort graduating from the BA (Hons) Accounting and Control, Association Technicians Qualification.

July 2012 also saw 5 Postgraduate Research students from Newcastle Business School achieve their Doctorates – a testament to the continued success of Newcastle Business School’s academic research activity. Graduates included: Matthew Sutherland, Tong Zheng, Wee Chan Yee, Jagdeep Singh Jassel Satwant Singh and Mazirah Yusoff.
