St Oswald’s Search for a New Trustee
St Oswald’s Hospice in Gosforth is looking to attract a new Trustee to its Promotions Board, which is responsible for guiding the charity’s income generation strategy.
As a registered charity, St Oswald’s has to raise £6.5 million each year, through voluntary giving, to provide hospice care to North East adults, young people and children.
A large element of income generation for the Hospice is undertaken by St Oswald’s Hospice Promotions Ltd, which takes responsibility for the charity’s commercial enterprises. Last year, St Oswald’s Hospice Promotions Ltd gift aided £1.4 million to the Hospice, through the operation of a successful local weekly lottery and 17 retail outlets across the region.
St Oswald’s Promotions Board is made up of members of the Hospice Management Team, Trustees and Independent Directors.
Helen Eadington, Company Secretary, explains:
“Trustees bring a wealth of commercial experience to our Promotions Board and we’re hoping we can attract someone - ideally working within a Retail setting – at Senior Management or Executive level to work with us, share their knowledge and expertise and enrich the team.
“The role, whilst challenging, is unpaid and there is a minimum time commitment of approximately ten days a year. Board Meetings take place after office hours, on a quarterly basis, with additional support provided on a flexible basis, to suit the needs of both the Trustees and St Oswald’s Hospice Promotions Ltd.”
Helen added:
“St Oswald’s is a leading charity in the North East and this is a brilliant opportunity for someone, who believes in our ethos, to use their commercial expertise and business acumen to directly support our work.
If you are interested in becoming a Trustee and would like to discuss this role further please contact Helen Eadingtonon: 0191 285 0063 or email heleneadington@stoswaldsuk.org.
