CRITICAL SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGIES LAUNCHES DATA ENGINEERING SERVICES WITH NEW APPOINTMENT

Southampton based Critical Software Technologies has appointed Robert Russell as engineering manager to lead the company’s new data engineering unit, with the focus on management, visualisation and use of complex inter-related data.

Data Engineering involves the analysis of large and complex data sets to gain a competitive advantage. This enables better decision making by providing an improved understanding of in-service products and process performance.

A graduate in Mechanical Systems Design with Electronics from Glasgow Caledonian University, Russell brings extensive experience to the position, having worked in a variety of engineering roles within the aerospace industry, including software, mechanical and electrical systems projects. His main fields of interest are Health and Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS) and the proactive use of engineering and logistics data.

Prior to this position, Robert Russell had been working for Critical Software Technologies as principal consultant engineer on site at AgustaWestland Helicopters, in which time he ran a project related to the management and visualisation of HUMS data from several AW101 operators.

Commenting on the new appointment, company chairman Brian Luff says: “We are very pleased to have Robert Russell on board to lead the new data engineering unit at Critical Software. Our plans for data engineering within the business are very ambitious and with Robert’s leadership and proven expertise, we believe this new venture will be a great success.”

“I’m delighted to have been chosen to lead the data engineering unit and excited by the challenge of launching this new division. I’m looking forward to working closely with the team, while ensuring that this new focus helps build upon the Critical brand and excellent reputation,” comments Russell.
