Strong performance sees PR firm expand its team

Fast-growing PR and marketing firm Harvey & Hugo has added two key members of staff to its team on the back of soaring demand for its specialist services for SMEs and entrepreneurs.

The Company, which has offices in Newcastle and Darlington, has appointed Chris Hogg as business development manager and Danielle Pounder as PR intern to facilitate the firm’s ongoing growth.

Chris, a former Royal Marine, returns to his native North East following a stint working as a risk control manager at a gemstone mine in northern Tanzania.

While the move from the military and then the mining industry into PR was a substantial career shift for Chris, his background has given him the strong communication and negotiation skills needed to succeed in the intensely competitive PR sector.

His remit will be to generate and develop new business opportunities, particularly on Tyneside, and support the ongoing expansion of the Company.

He said: “The business has an innovative approach to PR and a fantastic reputation in the industry and I am looking forward to contributing to its continuing success. My varied working background has given me a different approach to generating ideas and solutions in business.”

Meanwhile, Danielle joins Harvey & Hugo after this year completing her A-Levels at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College in Darlington. Having studied photography and graphic design, the 18-year-old will now look to build on her creative skills to forge a career in PR and marketing.

As well as managing Harvey & Hugo’s growing stable of social media clients, she will also be tasked with digital and print design alongside the traditional duties of PR account managers.

She said: “I am looking forward to contributing to Harvey & Hugo with enthusiasm, team spirit and hard work, while hopefully bringing more business to the Company.”

Managing director Charlotte Nichols said: “Over the last 12 months, we’ve seen an upsurge in demand for our services which are tailored for small businesses wanting to increase their online presence and performance as well as their profile through traditional media sources.

“With the new acquisitions, we now have an excellently equipped team to continue the strong growth we have enjoyed since our inception three years ago.”

While Harvey & Hugo rose to prominence on the back of its ‘Pay-as-Hugo’ strategy – which enables businesses to avoid expensive retainers associated with traditional PR providers – it has more recently experienced additional success through its new online services.

Earlier this year the firm launched a new range of website, PR, onsite and offsite SEO, article marketing, video marketing and social media development services – all of which it has unofficially provided in the past when requested but never openly marketed.
