Sea Cadets say thank you for lawyer's generosity

Middlesbrough Sea Cadets have said thank you to Martin Levinson and Tilly Bailey & Irvine Solicitors for the pro bono legal support which helped them secure their new premises, TS Erimus, at East Lodge in Middlesbrough’s Albert Park.

As thanks, Martin was presented with an engraved fob watch and book about the history of TS Erimus by Liz Chambers, Chairman of Middlesbrough Sea Cadets, on Saturday 15thSeptember, 2012. The presentation was part of events to celebrate the Official Launch of TS Erimus, the Sea Cadets’ new premises. It was officially opened by Captain Mark Windsor BSc MA of the Royal Navy and Mr John Parker-Jones, Director of the Marine Society and Sea Cadets (MSSC), and a congratulatory message from Prince Andrew, Duke of York, was delivered by Lord Crathorne, Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire.

Martin said: “The presentation was totally unexpected, and a very pleasant surprise. I took the opportunity not only to thank Liz but also to congratulate her and her team on the new premises. The once derelict East Lodge has been completely transformed into impressive premises for the Sea Cadets. Whilst Tilly Bailey & Irvine were involved at the beginning to secure the lease, it has been a collective effort of many people and companies and all involved must be very proud.”

Following an approach through Tees Valley Professional Services Group (PSG), Tilly Bailey & Irvine Solicitors secured the lease on the new premises with Middlesbrough Council on behalf of Middlesbrough Sea Cadets.

Liz Chambers, Chairman of Middlesbrough Sea Cadets, said: “We wanted to say thank you to Martin for what he has done for so many of Middlesbrough’s young Sea Cadets, now and in the future. Martin and Tilly Bailey & Irvine Solicitors gave their time to the charity free of charge, which undoubtedly helped us get our relocation underway smoothly and enabled our new premises to be up and running quicker than we thought possible.”
