Wonga deal ends hospitality with Newcastle United

Here at MyMoneyPA, we have decided to cancel the planned hospitality with Newcastle United as a result of the sponsorship deal with Wonga. Ian Chapman, Director of Operations stated “we are a consumer champion and the planned hospitality was to give our customers an opportunity to watch a football match in special surroundings. The ethics of Wonga are directly opposite those of MyMoneyPA which provides a free service, puts the customer in control and takes its revenue from large organisations. We plan to develop our service next year to assist in educating people on managing their finances so they can stay away from payday lenders.”

Managing Director, Glenn Morrill, said “we were thinking of extending the hospitality to an Executive Box for the season so customers who support all the Premiership teams could have the opportunity to experience corporate hospitality. As a Newcastle supporter I am particularly upset about the sponsorship deal and will not attend any matches at St James Park whilst Wonga are involved in the Club. We will look to get hospitality at a Newcastle away game later in the season so Newcastle fans can still benefit from the experience”.The other hospitality deals planned for December, Sunderland v Chelsea and the Spa Breaks, remain unaffected.
