Tyne North Training ?Changing young people?s lives?

Tyne North Training is very proud to announce that 11 unemployed learners have just completed a 2 week programme which was delivered on The Mailing House Group site. The Mailing House Group is a local company based in Cramlington who specialise in high volume mailing. Tyne North Training has worked in partnership with them to provide opportunities for 5 apprentices to work on the Production Line and in the Print Department.

The Pre-Apprenticeship programme is specifically designed for young people who are NEET (Not in Education Employment or Training) and currently on Job Seekers Allowance (JSA).

The learners gained firsthand experience within the company and they all successfully completed a real life Line Trial.

They learned all about the risks and hazards within a company. The Health and Safety module was completed including the importance of PPE and site safety. The learners all completed the H&S module and procedures throughout the 2 week programme.

Manufacturing and Lean Principles is based upon a simulated production line and they practice many of the manufacturing processes and team building. Our Training Officer; John Connolly set them the task of assembling 15 plugs in 9 minutes whilst adhering to Quality, Cost & Delivery. This was a great opportunity to watch how they worked as a team including the strategies they came up which helped to improve their performance!

At the end of the two week programme all learners were guaranteed an interview with The Mailing House Group. To help prepare them for their interview we dedicated one day to developing their interview skills and prepare a fit for purpose CV. Prior to the interview with the Mailing House our Learner Recruitment Coordinator; Katie Illingworth conducted a mock interview with each of the learners, offering guidance and feedback at the end which helped to boost their confidence.

All 11 Learners were awarded with a Certificate in ’Preparation for Working in the Engineering and Manufacturing Industry through our awarding body EAL.

5 learners have secured an Apprenticeship through Tyne North Training with The Mailing House Group!!
