IT specialists Celerity celebrate a decade in business

IT specialists Celerity have celebrated ten years in business with the opening of new offices in Sunderland and Ashington and the doubling of their North East workforce.

The firm, which specialises in technologies that reduce the cost and complexity of corporate IT systems, celebrated a decade in business with a birthday party that included the six new staff members who have been taken on in the past 12 months – complete with customised Celerity birthday cake.

Companies including large local utilities, financial institutions and the UK’s largest motor manufacturer have taken advantage of Celerity’s expertise in IT solutions which has led to the firm being named amongst the UK’s top 50 technology companies by the Sunday Times.

Marketing Manager Tracy Ridgley said: “Trading conditions have been tough for everyone over the last couple of years, but this has led to an increasing awareness among many companies with the need for their technology systems to be more efficient both in cost and operation.

“Celerity’s reputation for significantly reducing the costs and increasing the productivity of IT systems has led to a customer satisfaction rate which has never been below 98%, and has seen more and more companies turn to us to help them make the most of their technology environment.

“We want to help make our clients’ business a success – if they are a success, it means we are a success too. “We work in all corners of the UK, but the North East was an obvious location for our expansion plans, not least the strong skills base, first class facilities and access to business support from people like Sunderland Software City”

Founded in the North West in 2002, Celerity’s growing reputation has seen them build a growing client base in sectors as diverse as defence, healthcare, financial services, utilities and local government and be named as a trusted partner by industry giants including IBM, Cisco, Hewlett Packard and Microsoft.

Celerity is being assisted by Sunderland Software City, the regional initiative driving and supporting the growth of the North East software industry. Sunderland Software City’s Business Support Manager Billy Webber, said: “Celerity’s decision to expand their operations in the North East is a clear vote of confidence in the strength of the regional software sector and a demonstration of the reputation Sunderland and its surrounding areas has as the ideal place to grow a technology company and we look forward to supporting the company in their continuing growth”.

The Sunderland Software City project is part financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), managed by the Department for Communities and Local Government.
