An uneven playing field

In an interview with Sky news this week, John Lewis managing director Andy Street said those overseas firms were enjoying an unfair advantage due to their lower tax bills.

Mr Street said those firms will “out invest and ultimately out-trade us.” Following the recent furore around the tax affairs of companies such as Starbucks and Google, are we right to feel sorry for businesses, or is the taxpayer the big loser here?
