School Students Complete Inaugural TTE Employability Course
The TTE Technical Training Group has praised the efforts of a group of Middlesbrough school students who have gained new employability skills.
Last year, TTE established a partnership with St. Peter’s Catholic College of Mathematics and Computing in South Bank, Middlesbrough, with the aim of preparing young people for employment by working towards a ‘Level 2 Certificate in Employability and Personal Development’.
The nine students that completed the course were awarded their certificates during a ceremony at the school. St. Peter’s Assistant Head Teacher, Norma Ithurralde said: “The team at TTE put together a very practical and interesting programme, which the students thoroughly enjoyed.
“It has boosted confidence levels in the students dramatically and showed them that learning doesn’t stop when you leave the classroom.”
The students, all aged between 14-15, were taught a wide range of skills, from CV writing and interview tips right up to gaining hands on engineering training at TTE’s workshop.
Dave Thompson, Partnership Manager at TTE, said: “The course has been a great success. It has taught the young people some valuable skills that will help them build a career and grow as people. It was very rewarding to see the students progress throughout the year.
“We are looking forward to continuing our partnership with St Peter’s School. We hope to be able to offer more students the same opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills for years to come.”
