Patrick Parsons welcomes new recruits

Patrick Parsons Consulting Engineers has recently taken five new staff on into its thriving Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) division.

The M&E division offers a wide range of consultancy services including: heating, ventilation and plumbing; electrical power and distribution; general, emergency and external lighting design; fire safety systems; renewable energy systems and utility services.

Senior Mechanical Design Consultant Gerard Hosford recently joined the M&E division, having previously worked for a multinational bluechip company. Hailing from Ireland originally and specialising in heating and ventilation engineering, Gerard has a vast bank of experience in the renewable energy sector, including undertaking low/zero carbon feasibility studies. Based at the Newcastle office, Gerard also works closely with the Building Services division at the Patrick Parsons office in Chester, ensuring a joined-up approach to M&E projects across the company. Mark Turner, director of Patrick Parsons said: “Gerard is a great asset to the M&E team and it’s good to have his strengths to draw on as our division takes on more complex and challenging projects.”

Thomas Ntalios also recently joined the Patrick Parsons team as Senior Mechanical Design Consultant and is involved in all aspects of mechanical design and producing feasibility reports, working on projects across the commercial, healthcare, educational and private sectors. He is currently lead mechanical design engineer on a landmark project for the M&E department: a BREEAM Excellent food research building at the University of Chester. Thomas brings with him over 10 years’ experience and a particular interest in projects where low carbon footprint and low energy usage are paramount.

Senior Electrical Engineer Benn Horncastle works alongside Thomas Ntalios and the rest of the M&E department to deliver electrical design services on a wide range of projects. Benn has been lead Electrical Design Engineer on a number of diverse new build and refurbishment projects including prestigious buildings such as Newcastle City Library and the Great North Museum. With 8 years’ experience as an electrical design engineer, Benn has a particular interest in education and custodial projects.

Also recently appointed to the M&E team, Senior Mechanical and Electrical CAD technician Andrew Budd, who comes from a background in CAD design within the building services and M&E sector and has over 15 years’ experience in the industry.

Joining the M&E department and working out of Patrick Parsons’ Chester office, Mark Gardiner brings his skills as a Principal Electrical Engineer to support the increasing demand for M&E services, as the Chester office continues to expand following its launch in 2011.

Speaking of his new role at Patrick Parsons, Mark Gardiner commented: “I am working on projects across a wide range of sectors which encompass utility and infrastructure, education and industrial contracts. I enjoy developing bespoke solutions for the client and using my experience to provide simple solutions to what can often initially appear to be complex problems.”

Mark Turner added: “The additions we have made to the M&E team both at the Chester and Newcastle offices underpins what is proving to be a period of strong growth for us. We have some exciting projects both underway and in the pipeline and it’s good to have an experienced and talented team to enable us to deliver to the highest standards. We are currently engaged in delivering M&E services for a BREEAM Excellent project, which is very prestigious for the division and for Patrick Parsons as a firm. With such a solid team I am sure the M&E department will go from strength to strength in 2013.”
