Yorkshire law firm expands with new premises

North Yorkshire-based law firm, Newtons Solicitors, is expanding with a new office in York.

The 1,300 sq ft premises will be the firm’s fourth office in the Yorkshire region, adding to its existing bases in Harrogate, Knaresborough and Ripon.

Newtons also recently appointed property lawyer, John Paice, as a new director.

He commented: “I’m delighted to join Newtons Solicitors to open the firm’s new office. York is a dynamic and exciting business area and, once we have settled in, we will recruit more York lawyers to our team.”

Newtons’ founder and managing director, Christopher Newton, said: “A York office has been on our wish list for some time and we are delighted that it is now a reality.

“We already have a good client following in York and opening an office will help us to grow considerably.

“I believe that our straightforward, down-to-earth approach will go down well in York and I’m looking forward to seeing the business expand further.

The acquisition of the new offices, announced this week, was supported by Santander Corporate Banking in Leeds.

Mr Newton added: “Santander was proactive in putting the deal together and pushing it through quickly and were good banking partners to work with.”

Based on the 18-acre Northminster Business Park, Newton’s has taken out a 200-year lease on its new property.

Northminster’s managing director, George Burgess, commented: “Northminster is a diverse and attractive business park with good road links and we are pleased to have reached agreement with Newtons and welcome them to our business community.”

Newtons reported growth of 75% in the past 12 months, and has further plans to expand across the North Yorkshire and Teesside.
