Grant Thornton supports The Employers Forum
Sheffield business advisory firm Grant Thornton is supporting the local community through The Employers Forum, by providing interview practice for job candidates.
Made up of representatives from local companies such as Grant Thornton, The Employers Forum is a non profit-making business that provides a wide range of practical advice and support for employers including a recruitment service. The organisation is working with Sheffield City Council to provide a job brokerage service, matching local unemployed people with job opportunities. As part of this process, candidates last week visited Grant Thornton’s Broadfield Court offices to gain interview experience.
One of the firm’s directors, Peter Edwards, together with John Powell of Sheffield City Council, carried out job interviews with the candidates before providing feedback on their performance and advice about their CVs.
Peter Edwards commented: “The Employers Forum is a genuinely useful service for local companies which we’ve supported since it was launched 16 years ago. As a firm, we’ve made use of the forum’s job brokerage service ourselves to successfully fill administrative positions and we’re happy to support the organisation in any way we can.
“This is a great way of sharing some of our expertise and giving a helping hand to those seeking work.”
Raz Khan, job brokerage & quality development manager for The Employers Forum, added: “Undergoing this type of interview practice is invaluable for candidates, raising their confidence and ability to cope with real job interviews.
“We really appreciate local firms such as Grant Thornton for providing on going support both as a member of the forum and also for going a step further and giving up their time to share their experience in this way.”
The Employers Forum provides advice on recruitment and training as well as offering networking opportunities. Members range from small independent businesses to local branches of large companies and include the Yorkshire bank, Wake Smith solicitors, Fast Signs, GTA motor trade, Jury’s inn, Royal Victoria Holiday Inn and Grant Thornton.
