Collingwood Legal to hold mock employment tribunals
A specialist employment law firm are running a series of mock employment tribunals to train companies in what to expect.
North-east firm, Collingwood Legal has won a contract to deliver the mock tribunals to provide practical insight into how proceedings are set up.
According to Government statistics more than 186,000 employment tribunal claims were brought in the UK between April 2011 and March 2012.
The events are aimed at HR professionals, company owners and anyone in a line management position and will be held in conjunction with Acas, the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service.
Acas and Collingwood will jointly present the event, with Acas delegates working from a pack of legal documentation prepared by Collingwood.
Collingwood Legal advises public and private sector organisations on all aspects of employment law, as well as many other clients based outside the North East.
Paul McGowan, founder and principal lawyer at Collingwood, said: “To be awarded this contract in an open tender process and in competition with longer established firms in the region is a real boost for us, and reflects very well on the skills and quality of the Collingwood team.
“The mock tribunals provide a realistic, safe environment in which anyone who might find themselves taking part in a tribunal can gain some practical experience of how they work and what to expect, as well as advice on how to prepare for their appearance and an opportunity to ask any questions about specific situations.
“We had terrific feedback from all the participants in last year’s programme, which was fully subscribed, and believe the informative, interactive and enjoyable sessions we’ll be holding this year will prove just as popular and useful.”
Three additional events will be delivered in the north east during 2013, with the first one already scheduled for Newcastle on Thursday 20 June.
