Check Point Helps to Fight Criminal Online Content
Check Point, the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced that it has joined the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), to fight against online criminal child sexual abuse content and sites. IWF works in partnership with police, government, and the Internet industry to combat child sexual abuse images worldwide, and criminally obscene adult content hosted in the UK.
The IWF URL List, which includes known child sexual abuse URLs, has been added to Check Point’s advanced solutions for securing and managing Internet and Web application usage. These include the URL Filtering Software Blade, which is available on any Check Point security gateway, and the dedicated Check Point Secure Web Gateway appliance. The move has further extended protection for organizations against accessing inappropriate or illegal content, or inadvertently downloading malicious code.
“We are committed to delivering safe and clean Internet access to all of our customers,” said Gabi Reish, Head of Product Management, Check Point Software Technologies. “The IWF plays an important role in protecting children and the Internet industry from criminal online content, and we’re proud to be supporting these efforts by incorporating the IWF URL list into our cloud-based website categorization.”
“IWF membership allows security vendors to integrate the IWF URL List of known child sexual abuse web pages into their products, to protect their customers from this content,” said Susie Hargreaves, IWF Chief Executive. “I welcome Check Point’s decision to take this service and look forward to a long and successful working relationship.”
The Check Point URL Filtering Software Blade integrates with Application Control, giving unified enforcement and management of all aspects of web security. The URL Filtering blade includes a database of more than 100 million websites, and provides full integration in the gateway to prevent bypass through external proxies.
Integration with Application Control gives complete Web protection according to an organisation’s policies, while Check Point’s UserCheck empowers and educates users on web usage policy in real time. This optimises security while simplifying management. The URL Filtering Software Blade is a key component of the Secure Web Gateway Appliance, an intuitive solution that enables secure use of Web 2.0 with real time multi-layered protection. In addition to URL Filtering, Check Point Secure Web Gateway appliance also includes antivirus, application control, identity awareness and analysis and reporting.
