Fit Training launches Durham training hub

The future is looking fit and healthy for young people in Durham who have a keen interest in sport and fitness, as north east fitness training provider, Fit Training, launches its first locally based fitness training hub at Freeman’s Quay Leisure Centre in Durham.

Fit Training has worked closely with young peoples’ support agency Rathbone UK, to offer two Fitness, vocational courses: ‘Access to Apprenticeship’ and ’In2Work ’.

The Access to Apprentice programme is a one year course where learners will work towards the valued ‘Level 2 Diploma in Gym Instruction’. The course mixes hands on valuable work experience and qualifications, for an essential mix of learning and vital experience in a working environment.

The Level 2 In2Work is held 2 days per week and offers 19-24 year olds, who are not in education or employment the opportunity to obtain the ‘Level 2 Gym Instructor’ vocational qualification. Learners from both courses will also participate each week in group fitness sessions which will enhance their knowledge, interest and personal fitness levels.

James Mather, Foundation Learning Tutor at Fit Training Ltd, who will be leading the new courses, commented: “Many young people who have left school undecided about their career path. Our new Durham hub will give those who already have a keen interest in fitness, the opportunity to fulfil their potential and achieve long term career success in the fitness industry.”

“Our latest courses in Durham also benefit from being held in a central location in the newly built Freeman’s Quay Leisure Centre, which offers excellent state-of-the-art gym equipment and facilities.”
