Five Perks to Offer Your Staff
If you want the best staff, it’s likely that you’ll need to be able to impress them as well as them impressing you. Offering a number of employee perks is certainly a way to do this and there are so many different things that you could do as a business to help tempt in some good talent.
So what are five common perks looked for by potential employees? We consider these below:
1) Flexible Hours - A flexible workplace is a happy one. Although on the surface it may seem you will lose man-hours by providing flexi-time, it has actually been proven to increase the productivity of your staff and keep them happier in their jobs.
The option to move their work around personal commitments is a massive benefit for anyone who has a family or another hobby outside of work.
2) Fuel Cards - Whether you offer to pay for a certain amount of fuel per month or all of it (this may depend on their seniority within the company), fuel cards are a great way of doing this. Often with a certain petrol provider, your staff can go and fill up their vehicles by using a card that pays using company money.
Even if this is just used to help them pay to go on a business trip, it saves them the hassle of having to use their own credit card and then claiming it back through expenses at a later date.
3) Gym Membership - Keeping fit and healthy in this day and age is very important and personal gym memberships don’t come cheap! So if you can provide gym membership as part of your benefits package an employee with know that they have saved a few hundred pounds over the course of the year.
Doing this also benefits your business too - not only will you get a deal with the gym for bulk buying memberships, your staff will also be happier, healthier and therefore more productive when they are at work.
4) Health Insurance - Something which comes standard with many businesses, especially larger corporations, is private health insurance. You’ll be able to choose from various packages and providers and receive discounts depending on your staff numbers.
Employees will love the fact that they will be able to get private treatment, and doing this will also ensure that if you do have any sick members of staff, you are likely to get them back fully recovered with far quicker waiting times
5) Company Car - The ultimate benefit for any employee has to be a company car. Of course, you’re unlikely to hand them the keys to a brand new motor without them making any contributions towards it, but it may help them be able to drive a motor that they couldn’t have afforded previously.
A company car will again probably come down to seniority within the company, but even if your new member of staff isn’t offered one, knowing their senior colleagues are given them provides them with something to work towards.
