Sintons supports Resources North East Expansion

A business which provides Government-funded training services to help young and unemployed people gain additional training and qualifications has expanded into two new North East sites.

Resources North East has opened a key new site in Jarrow, along with a new head office in Sunderland. The expansion will help the company keep up with demand and enable it to widen the range of services it provides.

The company is focused on helping young people who are not in education, employment or training (commonly referred to as ‘NEETs’) to find apprenticeships in collaboration with employers in the North East.

The expansion was supported by the Real Estate team at Newcastle law firm Sintons, led by Associate Tom Wills, who advised Resources North East on the deals.

It is the latest stage in the company’s growth, which has seen it take on additional space and improved facilities. In the past six months, Resources North East has taken on extra floor space of circa 16,000sq ft.

The new building on Bede Industrial Estate, Jarrow, will become the company’s main construction training centre where apprentices will experience all aspects of property maintenance, and the new Sunderland head office at Tower House, St Catherine’s Court, will house administrative staff and focus on IT and technology-based skills.

All courses include academic sessions to improve literacy in English and mathematics to prepare apprentices for the workplace. The cost of apprenticeships to local employers are minimal as they are largely state funded and are combined with practical training for a number of days a week.

Tom Doyle, Managing Director of Resources North East, said: “Our students have a proven track record of success in finding work after attending and completing our courses. We are passionate about improving the futures of young people and the North East, particularly in the construction, IT and technology and related trade industries. It is essential to generate the interest of employers in the North East. Without those employers there are no jobs for our apprentices.

“I have appreciated the sensible and commercially astute advice that Tom and his team have given us. He’s taken the time to understand our business objectives, which are about helping young people to help themselves. His advice on this move will enable us to achieve our longer term aspirations in a stable and flexible manner, which is key to attracting the interest of local businesses to our apprentices.”

Tom Wills from Sintons said: “Resources North East offers a fantastic product aiding and inspiring young people to re-engage with employment and people learning new skills. The youth of the region are the lifeblood of the economy. These courses give them hope in their future and the skills to succeed enabling them to make a positive contribution to society and to really make a difference.”

Resources North East still has places available for this academic year and welcomes relationships with local employers. For more details, visit the Resources North East website, www.resourcesdev.co.uk
