Thousands turnout for opening of Trinity Leeds

Trinity Leeds, the only major shopping centre to open in Western Europe this year, and the first to open in the UK for two years, has successfully opened in the city.

Jones Lang LaSalle’s retail agency team, as joint leasing agents with Central Retail and Cushman & Wakefield, has been advising Land Securities on the one million sq ft mall for the last seven years helping to ensure that on opening Trinity Leeds was close to capacity.

The £378m iconic scheme, which straddles three of Leeds’ busiest shopping streets, comprises 100 shops and 20 restaurants, including flagship stores for H&M, Next and River Island.

Tenants include 46 brands which are new to Leeds, such as Apple, Mango, Hollister and Superdry and Everyman Cinema.

Damian Sumner, head of high street agency at Jones Lang LaSalle, said: “Trinity Leeds is the largest scheme opening in Western Europe this year and is will transform the city’s retailing sector and push Leeds to the fourth largest retail centre in the UK.

“At a time when the retail landscape is changing and development finance scarce Trinity Leeds will stimulate the city’s evening economy with late night shopping, leisure and dining and create over 2,600 new jobs.”

Thousands of shoppers queued at the centre’s doors before being let in for the opening.
