Anniversary celebrations for Barnsley repairs partnership
A partnership between Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, Kier and Berneslai Homes, established to deliver a high quality property repairs service, is celebrating its third year of continued success.
The ten-year Barnsley Property Repairs and Improvement Partnership (PRIP), created in 2010, provides high quality planned and responsive repairs and maintenance programmes, void property refurbishment, gas servicing and environmental works for 19,000 homes in Barnsley.
The shared partnership delivers approximately 62,000 repairs per year, throughout the borough, which equates to three repairs to every property per year. Improving customer service is a key focus and has been achieved by holding joint customer workshops, work shadowing, improving the out of hours repairs process, implementing a winter working contingency plan and extending appointment slots, and is demonstrated in consistently high satisfaction rates most recently recorded at 92%.
The partnership employs 84% of its staff from the local area and is committed to offering training opportunities; it provided more than 4,000 training events between 1 September 2011 and 31 August 2012.
Kier regional operations director, Phil Oades, said: “Since the formation of the partnership we have made significant progress in achieving our vision of providing high quality repairs and maintenance for tenants, and improving the lives and environment for the people of Barnsley.
“We are proud of our achievements so far and are looking now to take this partnership to the next level for the benefit of our customers and the communities where we work.”
