Cheadle software startup wins £435k investment

New Cheadle-based software venture, Sitedesk Ltd has secured a £435,000 investment from The North West Fund for Digital & Creative, managed by AXM Venture Capital.

This summer the business will launch a Building Information Modelling tool called Sitedesk Dabit, which was originally commissioned by construction engineers, Paul Grady and Danny Doohan.

The two businessmen saw a gap in the market between architects’ 3D models and the on-site project manager, which Sitedesk’s new product hopes to fill.

Designers and contractors will be able to use the tool to collaborate using mobile devices like smartphones and tablets, while access to 3D model will be made available on building sites without the need for a “high-end” workstation.

The North West Fund for Digital and Creative, which is part of the larger North West Fund, is financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the European Investment Bank.

They will invest alongside other supporters including the founders of the firm and new chairman, Craig Slater who was introduced into the firm after running construction software firm, Eleco PLC.

Sitedesk also recently appointed a new chief technology officer, Chris Sewart, who previously held the same role at web conferencing company, Yuuguu, while they are still on the look out for a sales director and chief executive in the Greater Manchester area.
