Houghton International to hold Apprentice recruitment open day
Electro-mechanical engineering specialist Houghton International is to hold their annual Apprentice Recruitment Open Day on Wednesday 26th June where they aim to recruit a number of full time apprentices to join the team in autumn 2013.
Interested applicants will be able to discuss the opportunities available to them and meet the management team, including current apprentices, at the companies head office in Walker, Newcastle upon Tyne between 9.00am and 3.00pm.
The apprenticeship programme offered is the Association of Electrical and Mechanical Trades (AEMT) Electro Mechanical Apprenticeship Programme, delivered in conjunction with Loughborough College. This is a four year work based / block release Apprenticeship Programme leading to: Performing Engineering Operations (PEO) Level 2,BTEC Diploma in Engineering Level 3,NVQ Electrical and Electronic Engineering Level 3,City and Guilds 2330, 3 Repair Units and Personal Learning & Thinking Skills (PLTS.)
Applicants will need to meet the entry requirements of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above including Maths, English Language & one Science.
Houghton International pioneers technical and commercial innovation in the repair, maintenance and life extension of rotating electrical machines, working across a range of sectors including rail transport, power generation, industrial automation, oil & gas, mining and marine.
The company has recently completed a £1.5 million expansion and won the SME Excellence award at 2013 Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) North East of England branch Human Resources and Development Awards.
Jacqueline Mason, HR Manager commented “We are totally committed to the development of our apprentice programme which is now in its third year. Currently 14% of employees are apprentices undergoing a four year structured programme and upon successful completion there will be further opportunities of on-going future personal development to include HNC / HND qualifications, in addition to career progression within the company.”
