New Yorkshire fashion brand off to international flier

A new Yorkshire fashion brand which launched just a few weeks ago has already shipped suits more than 20,000 miles across the globe.

Johnny Tuxedo has sent dinner suits to customers as far afield as Australia, the Caribbean and the United States.

Aimed squarely at 16 to 25-year-olds, Johnny Tuxedo promises to show style-starved men that a tuxedo can be worn in countless different ways without paying top prices. The suit, shirt and bow tie retail for just £120 all in.

Brand founder and creator Austen Pickles, who runs £10m tailoring company Buxton Pickles from a headquarters in Ilkley, said he was amazed by the response.

He told Bdaily: “If we ever had a doubt about the size of the market we certainly don’t now.

“In the last seven days we have had orders from Austria, Belgium, France, Australia and Curacao in the Caribbean.

“We have had so much support from the region, with some students from Leeds University among the first recipients, and the response worldwide has been fantastic.”

Working from offices and a design studio in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, the heart of British textiles and tailoring, Johnny Tuxedo is a unique collaboration of friends, all of whom have an equity stake in the business.
