Sheffield Hallam University appoints local software company

Sheffield-based software firm Nicholas Associates (NA) has been appointed by Sheffield Hallam University to create a bespoke cutting-edge work placement management system, following its success in a rigorous competitive tender.

Sheffield Hallam University was looking for a system which met the wide variety of needs of its four teaching faculties which include the Faculty of Arts, Computing, Engineering and Sciences, the Faculty of Development and Society, the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing and the Sheffield Business School.

James Waring, head of software at NA Software, said: “We are extremely pleased to be working with Sheffield Hallam University on this new and exciting challenge.

“We have worked extensively with the Education Business Partnerships to develop work placement software platforms, but to further develop our system to standardise four large university faculties will be a real opportunity for high level technology implementation.”

As Sheffield Hallam University is one of the largest and the most diverse higher education establishments in the UK, with 35,000 students enrolled in over six hundred courses, the University was looking for a personalised work placement recruitment system.

The system will be required to nurture prospective placement students, whilst supporting them in making informed choices. In addition, the system must allocate students to suitable placement experiences which will ensure that they can progress successfully through their course.

It will also support a dedicated team of staff, through the use of effective tools to underpin student recruitment and provide management information to inform them about future activity and budget.

The software team at Nicholas Associates is highly experienced in supplying UK-wide clients with a 24/7 online software solution to support the delivery of placement management programmes through their all:together system.

Sheffield Hallam University will benefit from a further development on the all:together system, which provides work placement brokers with a tool which helps them to efficiently and effectively manage placements for thousands of students.
