Nottingham City Council short listed for three awards

Nottingham City Council (NCC) has been short listed for three categories in the Employee Benefits Awards 2013. These include “Best Voluntary Benefits Plan” and “Best Rewards Strategy Aligned to Business Strategy” for its Works Perks employee benefits scheme, as well as “Benefits Team of the Year”.

The Council’s Works Perks programme, which has been nominated for “Best Voluntary Benefits Plan” and “Best Rewards Strategy Aligned to Business Strategy”, has been in place since 2005, and is developed in partnership with P&MM Employee Benefits. NCC as been one of the UK’s most pioneering public sector authorities in introducing popular new salary sacrifice schemes including cycle-to-work; home computing initiative; green-travel-to-work; annual leave purchase and weekly hours reduction, and most recently, mobile phones. The Council’s forward-thinking approach to salary sacrifice benefits has already resulted in seven national awards.

Tara Bath, Reward and Retention Consultant, Nottingham City Council says: “To be short listed for all three awards entered is testament to the hard-work and combined expertise of the Council’s benefits team and advisors at P&MM Employee Benefits.

“We’re proud to have a diverse workforce in terms of gender, age and ethnicity, and one of the core principles of the Work Perks scheme is to offer a comprehensive range of easily accessible and popular voluntary benefits – something to appeal to ALL Council colleagues. We aim to offer benefits to suit all lifestyles, tastes and needs. Furthermore, in light of the continued economic downturn, the Council has been tasked with driving cost savings. Through the introduction of the annual leave purchase scheme, holidayplus, NCC has successfully generated total savings of over £0.7 million since launching. Financially, this has been a major boost – and at the same time has delivered a popular and appealing new benefit for Council colleagues.”

The winners of the Employee Benefits Awards 2013 will be announced during a lunch-time ceremony at the Artillery Garden at the HAC in London on 7 June 2013.
