Hermes on expansion trail with Capitol Park deal

Hermes, the UK’s leading consumer delivery specialist, has taken 13,500 sq ft of quality office space at Capitol Park, south Leeds, in one of the biggest out-of-town office deals in Yorkshire this year.

The company, which already occupies the 30,000 sq ft Capitol House at Capitol Park, is moving its Customer Services team into the nearby Tomlinson House.

Hermes, which delivers 160 million parcels every year, has signed a six-year lease on Tomlinson House, named after the inspirational Jane Tomlinson, the brave Yorkshirewoman whose fight against cancer captured the nation’s imagination.

Capitol Park, which is situated by Junction 28 of the M62, has been developed by Yorkshire property company Sterling Capitol.

Gary Cartmell, the managing director of Sterling Capitol, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Hermes to Tomlinson House. Hermes have been a tenant of ours at Capitol House for the past four years and their decision to expand into the whole of nearby three-floor Tomlinson House is a resounding endorsement of Capitol Park.

“As a company, we are extremely proud of what we have achieved here.

“Job creation is at the heart of our plans at Capitol Park and there are already more than1,450 people already employed on site at companies as diverse as Carcraft, dePuy, de Vere Village Hotels, Real Radio, the NHS and the Henderson Insurance Group.

“We are now delighted to welcome 200 Hermes employees.”

Gary Winter, sales and marketing director at Hermes, said: “Since we moved our head office into Capitol House in 2009, the company has seen significant growth and is now number two in the UK, behind the Royal Mail.

“We have quite simply outgrown our head office and this move also gives us the opportunity to have a highly visible dedicated contact centre.

“This sends a positive message to our clients and customers, showing that we are putting them at the heart of everything we do.”

The Leeds office of global property consultancy Knight Frank is the joint marketing agent with Jones Lang Lasalle for Capitol Park.
