Caddick Construction completes work on £24.6m retirement village
West Yorkshire’s Caddick Construction has completed the development of the £24.6m Buckshaw Retirement Village in Chorley.
Delivered on behalf of HicaLife, the village is set across three separate buildings which have been completed to a high quality four star hotel standard by the Caddick’s team.
They include a specialist extra care and dementia facility with sensory lounges, doctors surgery as well as assisted and independent living accommodation within an attractive environment.
Andrew Stow, chief executive at HicaLife, commented: “Buckshaw Retirement Village is a major investment into Chorley and the care industry.
“Caddick Construction has delivered a high quality product which met the brief and timetable and we have been impressed with the team’s management in a very challenging live environment.”
It boasts sustainable features, including timber frames from FSC managed sources, rigorous site waste management, bulk fill recycling and where possible materials from excavations were used as fill elsewhere on the site. Green compost was added to topsoil to achieve required ph levels and gabion baskets were used instead of concrete for the perimeter retaining walls.
Richard Gaukrodger, contracts manager at Caddick Construction, said: “This has been a really satisfying project to deliver, the buildings demonstrate high levels of efficiency and reliance, the quality exceeds four star hotel standards and ultimately the village delivers attractive accommodation for the over 55s through to specialist care for the elderly and dementia sufferers.
“The team has worked hard to minimise any disturbance to residents living around the site and Caddicks has added another successful project to our extensive care project management experience.”
