North West firms sought for social housing framework

North West construction firms are being sought for a major social housing framework in the region.

Procurement group, Procure Plus have outlined a contract for businesses that specialise in refurbishment, repair and maintenance to work on a four-year deal worth £37m.

The firm is seeking a contractor who is open to providing a high number of employment opportunities to those furthest away from the labour market.

Bidders for the deal must also be able to deliver a wide range of maintenance services to housing providers across the region.

This will include six lots of work, including waste clearance and security installation for void properties, minor and major refurbishments works, and repairs across Lancashire, Merseyside, Manchester and Cumbria.

Clare Tetlow, senior procurement manager at Procure Plus, commented: “This framework has been carefully structured to really maximise the social benefits for the communities.

“Not only will it drive regeneration in local communities, but it will also boost the employment and training opportunities within these areas, as suppliers take on those who are really struggling to make their way in the labour market – from ethnic minorities and females, to ex-offenders and young people who are not in education, employment or training.

“We’ve also designed the framework by geographical region, ensuring businesses of all shapes and sizes can provide a responsive service for our landlords.”
