RAC picks The Logic Group for PCI compliance

The Logic Group has announced that the RAC has implemented its Managed Payment Service, delivering improved security to the RAC’s payments infrastructure and data insight capabilities.

The RAC needed to consolidate a large number of disparate systems following the acquisition by Carlyle Group from Aviva plc. Following an extensive tender process the RAC selected The Logic Group’s Managed Payment Service to support the business objectives of systems consolidation, PCI DSS scope reduction and improving business and customer Insight.

Secure payment acceptance at the roadside was a key challenge for the RAC, The Logic Group created a tailored payment application for the RAC’s roadside rescue teams that enables roadside payments to be taken securely and efficiently, eliminating the need to disclose card data on paper or relay on a mobile phone signal. The payment application even stores and encrypts payment information when the cellular network is not available. Once network signals are available, the application transfers the customer’s payment data securely.

Sharon Rosser, Head of Operational Support at the RAC commented, “Following a comprehensive tender process involving the six largest payment service providers, a market evaluation and pilot period, we decided to go with The Logic Group because of their technical superiority, support and service. The platform offered the greatest level of PCI DSS scope reduction for our business, which significantly simplified our initial and on-going compliance with the PCI DSS standard. This ultimately provides the highest level of data security for our customers’ card data across our payment services.”

“We worked with The Logic Group’s technical consultants and Qualified Security Assessor to design a payment infrastructure that was right for our businesses. They were able to create a tailored solution for our business requirements, saving us both time and money. “

Mike Minahan, Director of Sales and Service for the RAC added: “The Logic Group had the vision, service and enthusiasm to assist us on our compliance journey. They have been a supportive organisation prepared to help rather than hide behind over-engineered processes as is often the norm in many modern companies. This flexibility and understanding of the challenges companies have today made The Logic Group offerings clearly stand out from their competitors. We’ve been using their service for 12 months now, and it’s proven very reliable”

Nick Stacey, Director of Business and Market Operations at The Logic Group said: “It’s brilliant to be working with one of the most recognised British brands. Not only will our solutions drastically reduce the scope of PCI DSS compliance for the RAC, but will also provide a multichannel view of customer payments data for better decision making.”

“Progressive PCI DSS compliance will help RAC prevent security breaches – by securely processing and storing encrypted customer payment card data. By adopting tokenization, they will also reduce their PCI audit scope, which will accelerate initial compliance efforts and reduce the costs of future audits.”

The Logic Group’s Managed Payment Service instantly encrypts customer card data at the point of sale, and removes all card data using The Logic Group’s hosted payment page. This makes data unreadable during its transmission to The Logic Group’s secure PCI DSS compliant data centre for processing, reducing the risk of fraud. Once received, the details are tokenised and returned for safe storage. The service also enables clients to maintain the validity of their tokenised card details using the Account Updater Service to ensure low collection refusal rates while attempting to collect monthly and annual policy renewals.
