Royal recognition for North East recruiters

The Queen’s official representative, The Lord Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear, was in Washington this week to present a local company with one of the country’s leading business awards.

Oil Consultant’s Ltd, a specialist recruitment agency for the oil and gas industry, was presented with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade in recognition of their achievements in exports over the past three years.

Helen Smith, CEO of Oil Consultants Ltd, said, “We are delighted to been awarded this accolade and to receive it in such a tremendous ceremony. Winning the award was a real team effort by all members of Oil Consultants staff so it is fantastic that everyone had the opportunity to take part in the presentation.”

Lord-Lieutenant for Tyne and Wear, Nigel Sherlock, OBE, said, “It was my pleasure in 2010 to present Oil Consultants with their first Queen’s Award and to return a second time within three years is wonderful, and illustrates just how this remarkable Company is making steady growth within a very specialised field. It is a great boost to our region that such a specialist organisation is based in Tyne and Wear and they have been recognised in such a positive manner with an Award which is recognised and respected throughout the world.”

The award is given to companies who have demonstrated substantial and sustained growth in exports over the previous three years and Oil Consultants is one of only three companies in the region to have achieved the award this year. The company also achieved the award in 2010 and Helen said, “Since winning the last award we have more than trebled staff numbers and established on office in Australia as well as trading entities in a number of key locations. Our growth has been 100% organic and is the result of a dedication to customer service which has led to a reputation for excellence in our industry. To achieve the award for a second time in three years is a fantastic recognition of our company’s success.”

Oil Consultants now supply technical experts from over 90 nationalities, across a range of niche disciplines from Bolting to Well Testing, to clients in the oil and gas industry in 80 countries. In the next 12 months the company is looking to further build on its success by opening offices and recruiting staff in the USA and Middle East to support global operations.
