Barnsley move fuels haulage firm´s growth
A Yorkshire transport business has relocated its entire operation from Dewsbury to Barnsley.
A Davies Transport Ltd recently completed its move to Fallbank Industrial Estate, just off Junction 37 of the M1.
The new 55,000 square foot premises is enabling the family-run business, which was founded in 2007 by MD Andy Davies, to extend its range of services, purchase new fleet and take on additional staff.
The company, which turned over £3m last year, employs 28 with three new jobs created since the move to South Yorkshire.
Sales manager Shaun Frain explained how the move has boosted thebusiness: “We needed larger premises and the move has enabled us to look closely at the business and diversify which is considerably strengthening our overall offer.
“We’ve fitted out the 40,000 sq ft warehouse so we can provide storage and fulfilment. Our large four bay garage means we’re also able to provide fleet maintenance, a paint shop, servicing, repairs and mobile breakdown services.
“We’ve also just received an international licence which is allowing us to offer overseas work.”
A Davies Transport Ltd is receiving business support from Enterprising Barnsley with the assistance of funding from Barnsley Council.
