Expanding Sheffield architect practice relocates to Kelham Island

Urban regeneration specialist Coda Studios has agreed a deal to relocate to larger Sheffield city centre premises.

The architect practice has outgrown its current premises in the city’s Mowbray Street and will move to Cornish Place in the heart of Sheffield’s historic Kelham Island industrial quarter.

The move comes as the business projects a 40 per cent team growth across the next 12 months after seeing turnover increase by over 30% in the last financial year and projections of equal growth this year.

Coda managing director David Cross said: “Our increasing volume of commissions both regionally and nationally has prompted the move to accommodate our expanding team of architects, designers and technicians.”

Richard Smith, partner at the Sheffield office of law firm hlw Keeble Hawson, advised on Coda’s relocation to the 3,000 square foot offices in Cornish Place, a Grade II listed building.

He said: “Coda’s move to larger offices underpins a successful growth story for this vibrant Sheffield architectural practice that is fast gaining a client base outside Yorkshire.

“After several challenging years for all firms involved in the construction sector, we hope that Coda’s expansion signals a more optimistic mood in the city.”

Rebecca Schofield of Knight Frank Sheffield acted for the landlords in the transaction.

Coda’s current work includes the £2m plus Dun Fields scheme for 18 student houses on a brown field site in the Kelham island area.
