Building services contractor beefs up its head office with recruitment drive

One of the North East’s largest privately-owned building services contractors has announced new positions at its head office.

Castle Building Services has recruited for the 12 permanent positions, based in Hebburn, following the recent announcement it had secured two major contracts.

The contract wins, which have a combined contract value of £5million, involve work on the £8.6 million project to transform Newcastle’s Central Station and the development of a new headquarters building for Durham Constabulary at Aykley Heads.

As part of this latest recruitment drive Castle has created both technical and administrative roles along with two apprenticeships, since one of the company’s main aims is to support the local region by creating roles with real career opportunities.

This latest intake, of both technical and administrative staff, increases the contractor’s direct workforce to 112.

Operations director Allan Carr said it is important to make a commitment to invest in young people and create sustainable employment while giving something back to the local community and industry.

He continued: ““Securing a number of recent new contract wins has further strengthened our position to increase our high calibre workforce and I am delighted to announce that we have created such a significant number of positions.”

“Each new member of the team brings with them a high level of industry experience and the positive work ethic we look for when employing staff. I look forward to them making their contribution to the ongoing success of the company.”

Ronnie Corbet has joined as Castle’s EWI installation manager; Kevin Bennett and Peter Carr have both joined as project managers; Ben Clement and Matty Mitchell have joined as mechanical engineers; David Nattrass takes up the position of electrical engineer; and Les Dunn joins as a mechanical estimator. Christine Connolly, Vicki Smith and Dawn Cox have joined in an administrative capacity.

Ryan McElwee has been given the opportunity to undertake the Association of Accounting Technicians apprenticeship and Alex Burke is undertaking an apprenticeship in business administration.
