Pets at Home’s £400k investment in new Doncaster store
Pets at Home has announced the opening of a new outlet on Thorne Road Retail Park, Doncaster, following a £400,000 investment that will create seven new jobs at the 9,900 sq ft unit formerly occupied by Suite Success.
The operation will provide thousands of dedicated pet products, catering for local dogs, cats, small animals, chickens, reptiles, birds and fish as well as wildlife. There will also be a Groom Room.
Area manager, Paul Doyle, said: “There was a strong demand from local pet owners for Pets at Home to come to the town, and we’re very pleased to have been able to grant them their wish.
“Pets at Home recruits from the local areas it operates in and I’m delighted that we have found a team of talented individuals in Doncaster.
Applicants go through a number of stages to assess their compatibility for the role. Those recruited are given career development routes with Pets at Home by gaining specialist qualifications in pet care.
The company was founded in 1991 and now has more than 350 sites across the UK, with a payroll of more than 6,000. It won The Sunday Times Top 25 Best Big Companies to Work For 2013
Store manager, Emma Baines, commented: “It’s been a busy few months and now myself and the team can’t wait to open the doors and welcome our new customers and their pets to the store.”
Doncaster Central MP, Rosie Winterton, added: “The new Pets at Home will be a welcome addition to the area, bringing much-needed jobs and contributing to its retail landscape.”
The store will open on Friday 20th September.
