Law firm Ward Hadaway has appointed a former senior human resources executive from transport giant Arriva as its new director of HR.

Lisa Davies joins the Top 100 UK law firm after 12 years working at Arriva

Newcastle’s Maersk Training has appointed its first female instructor to work within its wind energy division – a move that it says will help dismiss many preconceptions about this being a male dominated industry sector.

Lynn Lowes has worked within first aid and training for the past 14 years and recently added a diploma in teaching to her skill set. She will form part of a nine-strong team within Maersk’s Wind industry training division.

Lynn commented: “This sector has been dominated by men for as long as I can remember and there is no real reason for it. It is a fast growing industry, which is having a positive impact on the economy and as such the need for skilled professionals to work within it will continue to grow - I just hope my success will encourage more women to jump on board.”

Business support organisation, NBSL, has appointed former bank manager Alison Jones as North East business support executive.

Alison has been appointed specifically to stimulate interest and uptake of the North East Business Support Fund in the Tees Valley Area.

A former bank manager for Barclays, Alison was more recently the Advisory Services senior team leader for Business and Enterprise Group Ltd.
