Liverpool barristers launch online service for UK legal community
A team of barristers from Liverpool has launched a new online service for the UK’s legal community.
Pro-VIDE-Law, the first website of its type in the country, offers expert advice, sector news, and a platform for debate. It will provide a feed of information on current legal issues, access to case notes, discussion forums and opportunities for training.
It has been launched by Charles Feeny, Wendy Owen, Lorraine Manser and Anna Samuel and a team of other barristers at St Johns Buildings Chambers, at India Buildings in Water Street, Liverpool. In collaboration with legal academics and expert witnesses, the free online service has a primary focus on personal injury, clinical negligence and industrial disease litigation.
Mr Feeny, barrister and contributing editor to Pro-VIDE said: “We have recognised for some time that there has been a real need for a channel such as this. There is a perception that there isn’t enough reference material available from cases actually been decided by the court leaving academics short on valuable information. There is also a lack of real debate and discussion around legal and technical issues.
“We wanted to create a website which had all of the vital information in one place. Our idea is to provide professionals with a space where they can contribute their ideas and learn from other like-minded specialists from across the country. We want to offer them a much needed source of material, key information and opportunities for training.”
Pro-VIDE will mark the launch of the website with two major events this autumn, both including seminars led by leading practitioners and expert witnesses, together with a series of interactive activities.
