75 Doncaster jobs in prospect as Dunelm Mill development commences
Work has commenced on a new 40,000 sq ft Dunelm Mill store at Wheatley Hall Road, Doncaster, which is expected to brings 75 jobs to the town.
St. Modwen, the regeneration specialist and owner of the Wheatley Hall Road site, has appointed Bailey Construction to undertake the building work.
On completion, Dunelm Mill will relocate from its existing site at Thorne Road Retail Park to the new £3.25m store, allowing the retailer to expand its offer in Doncaster.
The main steelwork has now been erected and brickwork and cladding underway, with the construction phase of the store scheduled to take around 16 weeks.
Richard Bannister, development manager at St. Modwen, said: “Construction of the Dunelm Mill store marks another significant step forward in the development of our Wheatley Hall Road site.
“The redevelopment of this prominent site has the potential to create around 75 jobs for local people as well as bringing important investment to the region.
“We will continue to work closely with Dunelm Mill to ensure this new retail facility fulfils all their requirements.”
This milestone marks a significant step forwards in the ongoing redevelopment of this 13 acre site, formerly occupied by Tyco Electronics.
A new Marston’s public house has recently opened on the site. The new family-friendly public house is part of St. Modwen’s plans to bring much-needed recreational facilities to the area.
