North East graduate recruiters compete for British award

Innovative North East graduate recruitment company has been shortlisted in Britain’s biggest SME competition - The Pitch 2013.

Celebrating 12 months of trading in September, the Gradvert team must now compete against 49 other SMEs from across Britain for their chance to win a share of £275,000 of investment.

Lisa Bean, managing director of Gradvert, said: “We are beyond delighted to have been shortlisted for ‘The Pitch 2013’. It’s a chance for us to tell more people about what we do and why it works.

“Winning this award would help us to expand the business and create more jobs in the North East as well as launch our brand new learning and development modules, which will be free to all graduates.”

Made up of an ambitious trio of north east business women, Gradvert aims to change the nature of the graduate recruitment market by removing the barriers to recruitment, reducing attrition through training and making use of social media for building brand awareness.

With clients such as Go-Ahead, NMHG, Barratt Homes and Gentoo Genie, Gradvert has made a large impact in 12 months and have already set up three new graduate schemes on a national level.

Commercial director, Michaela Reaney, urges North East businesses to support the awards.

She said: “We are trying to give ourselves a head start by winning the social media award. To do this we need to secure votes by Friday 13th of September. As a North East business run by three North East women, we are urging people in the region to ‘support local’ in our bid against SMEs from across the UK.”

Sponsored by the Guardian Small Business Network, ICAEW and others, The Pitch will be hosted in the Bristol’s creative quarter, Paintworks on 25th September 2013.
