Bronze award is gold star for university
Liverpool John Moores University has won the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services Technology Award for innovative and effective use of technology.
LJMU was noted for its work on enabling technical systems to support the integration of the Bronze World of Work statement into the Level 4 (first year) curriculum.
The Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS) is the professional body for careers and employability professionals working with higher education students and graduates and prospective entrants to higher education.
Terry Dray, the university’s Director of Graduate Advancement and Employer Engagement said: “We are delighted to receive this accolade.
“Integrating the Bronze stage into diverse programmes was a huge challenge with staff from the World of Work Careers Centre working with academics, programme leaders and service teams across the University to ensure this exciting new development was ready to be delivered at the start of the last academic year.
“Bronze sessions were delivered in 72 modules with 4700 students submitting a statement across the university. “It is vitally important that LJMU students start to develop their career readiness as early as possible and integrating Bronze into programmes for all new students is of great benefit to them.
“Feedback from the sessions was very encouraging and because of this early engagement, students are also more aware of the wealth of careers support they have on offer at LJMU.” The aim of these workshops is to enable the students to develop aspects of career related self-awareness and write a criterion based personal statement on their employment related skills, development areas, work values, levels of motivation, drive and energy, examples of their emotional intelligence and then identify potential career options based on this self-analysis.
