Seven up for new challenge

Galliford Try Partnerships North has continued its expansion with the employment of seven new members of staff.

The company has won around £10 million of new business in the first three months of its financial year (July – June) and the new starters will play a key role in an ambitious growth plan which is expected to bring more work in the coming months.

Alex Ross and Steven Bell, both from Durham, will take on Development Manager roles, whilst John Manning from Gateshead and David Aston from Whickham have secured positions as Contract Managers. Phil Hunter from Darlington and Nathan Walker from Blaydon have obtained Quantity Surveying jobs and Stuart Ablett from Jarrow has been employed as a Design Coordinator.

Said Stephen McCoy, Managing Director with Galliford Try Partnerships North: “We welcome our new team members, who are joining us at an exciting time, as the sector shows real signs of growth. Recruitment will continue and we anticipate creating at least 10 more new jobs over the coming months. In addition, multiple job opportunities will be created within our consultant and sub contract partners.”

The new projects include: A scheme in partnership with Leazes Homes, Your Homes Newcastle and Newcastle City Council to create an assisted living development in North Kenton; the first phase of a new facility for the Willow Burn Hospice in Lanchester; 24 new affordable homes in Felling for Home Group and two redevelopment schemes with Housing Hartlepool, part of The Vela Group. The first involves the Grade II listed Friarage Manor House building and the surrounding land, to create 36 affordable homes and the second, the former Henry Smith School site in King Oswy Drive, Hartlepool, creating 20 affordable rented bungalows and five for shared ownership.
