Yorkshire’s FMCG sector recruiting fast in recover, says Elevation

A Leeds and Rotherham recruitment agency has reported ‘strong demand’ for continuous improvement experts in the fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector throughout the region.

Elevation claims that the recruitment surge for continuous improvement engineers is a result of Yorkshire’s manufacturing industry seeking to improve its efficiency and productivity as part of a recovery that saw it deliver its strongest performance in over two-and-a-half years in August.

The firm’s FMCG senior consultant, Tom Jagger, said: “Manufacturing is starting to boom again here and the FMCG sector is playing a big part in this. We have seen an increased confidence from companies who are now looking to grow their workforces in order to increase their output.

“Efficiency and productivity are key factors in the current recovery and it is interesting to see that businesses are increasingly looking to create roles that have continuous improvement functions in order to provide a better platform for sustained performance going forward.”

Elevation Recruitment launched its dedicated FMCG team six months ago after seeing a surge in demand, particularly from food and beverage clients.

The team has seen a further increase in requests for engineering, operational and technical staff, including over 50 senior level vacancies, as companies look to capitalise on the improving economic picture.

Tom believes that demand for the agency’s FMCG business serves as a yardstick for the sector’s strong growth over the last two quarters.

He added: “FMCG is a key growth driver for the Yorkshire economy, continuing to perform well above the expectations of forecasters.

“We continue to be charged with filling a raft of skilled jobs in the sector across the county and we anticipate more strong growth in the coming months as confidence grows and businesses look to ensure they have the right team in place to develop further.”
